Mission Statement

Lifeblood: The Thrombosis Charity wishes to increase awareness of thrombosis among the public and health professionals and to raise research funds to improve patient care through improved prevention and treatment of venous thromboembolic disease.

Mission in 2012

Having successfully achieved our target of mandating risk assessment for hospital-acquired clots in all adult s admitted to hospital in England,we are turning our main attention to the regions to bring about the same changes in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Our new campaign "SPOT THE CLOTS" which came about from the many stories shared with us by people contacting Lifeblood of blood clots being missed by health professionals both in the community and in hospital gathers momentum and we continue to work hard to improve education of health professionals and awareness of the general public about clots. Clots can happen to anyone at any time!

Our recent publicity

		Many people are unaware of the high-risk situations that can lead to thrombosis, and it could be argued that most adults are potentially at risk some time during their lives.
