Lifeblood's youngest fundraisers do 5k run for us! PDF Print E-mail

Emily & Chloe Farquhar are our youngest fundraisers to date and ran a 5k Fun Run round Mugdock Reservoirs in Milngavie, Scotland in August to raise money for us and awareness of thrombosis after their Mum  suffered multiple PEs 3 years ago.

Emily sent me an article to accompany the fabulous photograph below which explains why she and her sister decided to undertake this event on our behalf.

"My younger sister, Chloe, and I decided to fundraise for Lifeblood: The Thrombosis Charity after our mum, Louise, was diagnosed with appendicitis in 2006. She quickly developed blood clots and was seriously ill. This came as a big fright to our family as appendicitis is not usually life-threatening! Mum was in and out of hospital for two months, seeing doctors and nurses about her condition.

This summer I organised a 5k Fun Run with my friends and Chloein Milngavie, Glasgow on the 22nd of August 2009. We all raised a huge sum of £262.04 for Lifeblood! Chloe is baking sweet treats (mmm!) for the neighbours on Wednesdays and is raising a lot of money that way!

Mum is now healthy and back to normal.  She has made a fantastic recovery! I wish that there could be more education and knowledge on Thrombosis (blood clots) and better facilities for treating the illness. We are so proud of Mum who did so well throughout all of this.

Lifeblood endeavours to reflect all aspects of thrombosis care and research in the UK. Thank you to Lifeblood: The Thrombosis Charity - you're great!"
