"Many people are unaware of the Since our launch we have received hundreds of letters and calls welcoming the creation of the UK's first national charity dedicated to thrombosis. We would like to express a big thank you to everyone who has been in contact with us. Many of you have shared your experiences of how thrombosis has affected you, your family and your friends and some of you have very kindly allowed us to use your stories. Lifeblood is a 'baby charity' we are only 18 months old. But we are growing up fast. We have had enormous support from the public and health professionals, which is very gratifying and emphasises the need for our existence. We have stimulated a broad range of articles in the national and local press, magazines and radio on the subject of thrombosis, all giving us a brilliant start. Bur the work has only just begun. Since our launch we have started to produce literature, including fact sheets, on the range of thromboses and this website provides more detailed information. Thanks to the many donations and covenants we have been receiving over the past year, we have now established our 'research pot'. Although still quite small, this fund is growing. Eight months on our fundraising campaign has now officially begun. We have set our initial target to raise £750,000 for thrombosis research in the UK, which we believe to be achievable.
