Research

Thrombosis is a condition that occurs in every branch of medicine, yet until recently there has been no lead body for thrombosis research in the UK. Research into thrombosis tends to be a supplementary area of work, with funding generally given as seed money for small projects.

Lifeblood: The Thrombosis Charity aims to redress this situation by securing funds for research projects. This funding will focus on a series of multi-disciplinary studies in two key areas: basic thrombosis science and diagnosis and management of thrombosis.

Lifeblood is supported by a multi-disciplinary group, who are recognised within the UK as leaders in thrombosis care and research. This group, drawn from every branch of medical practice, will ensure that Lifeblood keeps up to date with the latest advances in treatment and prevention. It will also act as the peer review panel for Lifeblood's research programme.

Lifeblood has already supported its first research project which was recently featured in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
